Inspiration of The Heavyweight- Norway's best single track?
The Heavyweight- Norway's best single track?

Challenge yourself and your mountain biking skills in this network of cycling tracks.

Take a trip to Arendal and "Tungvekteren" (the Heavyweight single track) - one of the best made bike trails in the country.

"Tungvekteren" is a network of mountain biking paths just northeast of Arendal town. As the name indicates, it is a network intended to be challenging, and previous experience with mountain biking is highly recommended.

The network is open to the public and is free of charge.

The heavyweight is a path network in the Arendal countryside and woodland that is organized and marked for trail cycling. As the name of the trail indicates, this is a path network that should give you some real challenges, both for beginners and driven. The path network is 22 kilometers long and located just 5 minutes from Arendal city center.

The heavyweight consists of a network of everything from short runs, terrain parks with jumps and dosages. Arendal Singletrack and the fiery souls behind this network even have their own clubhouse and sauna in the trail network. A network that extends with a radius of 1.5 km between residential areas and E18 that crosses back and forth over the light trail. It is marked with arrow signs, reflex marks and white paint on trees.

The paths are arranged so that you can have as much fun uphill as downhill. It should be possible to ride most trails without putting your foot on the ground. Familiarize yourself with the trails before you try the most technical parts and show respect to all users of the trails.

The editors at the magazine "Terrengsykkel" (Mountain Bike) placed the heavyweight on the top ten list of trails in the world they had visited. They have 10 years of experience.

"There are no cities in Scandinavia that have more trails or a better network just 5 minutes from an afterbike in Pollen," says Jan Fasting, one of the fiery souls behind Arendal Singletrack. Pollen being the cosy harbour in the middle of Arendal city.

The project is supported by the Gjensidige Foundation and there are close to 45,000 hours of voluntary work behind it, thanks to the enthusiasts who want everyone to get out on their bike. After the "winter" that was this year, perhaps Arendal will have Norway's longest season for trail cycling?

Large parking lot at Dråbelia. Where Nordbødalen meets Dråbelia. See mark on the map.

If you like to try the single track on a electrical mountain bike with a local guide (minimum 4 people), see Canvas Hove.

Check out www.arendal.com for more information.
